Commissioned to document a journey through South Africa’s Northern Cape for legendary pianist Abdullah Ibrahim, this piece became a visual love letter to the land. From the vast open plains and ancient mountains to the Karoo, Augrabies Falls, Springboks, and baobab trees, the film captures a meditative reflection on heritage and belonging — anchored by Ibrahim’s voice reciting a personal poem, and underscored by his own music.
